The nation's first African-American congresswoman, the passionate Shirley Chisholm launched her run for the United States presidency in  the 1972 election, winning an impressive amount of support, given the era and the prevailing prejudices of many voters. The film takes a close look at her campaign, providing interviews with Chisholm and the dedicated individuals who worked on her groundbreaking campaign.  The screening is followed by an analysis of her impact as a role model on today’s political climate.
